The History of Innisfree Kennels Kathleen Kanzler established her Innisfree Kennels in 1947 with purebred collies and while in Alaska, in the early 1950's, she became enamored with the working abilities of the Siberian Husky. She purchased her foundation stock from well known racing kennels and embarked on her avocation of breeding beautiful Siberian Huskies that retained their working abilities. To this day, she trains her dogs on the sled and enjoys recreational sledding in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains. Her Innisfree Siberian Huskies are famous in the show ring throughout the world; at the l980 Westminster show held in Madison Square Garden, Kathleen had the thrill of a lifetime when her Am./Can. Ch. lnnisfree’s Sierra Cinnar won Best In Show and most recently, her Am./Can. Ch. Innisfree's Ice-T won Best In Show at the prestigious 1996 Asian International show. Innisfree became interested in the Shiba Inu (small dog) in 1987 and has pursued a breeding program that insures top quality Shibas. Kathleen and her daughters have been to Japan eight times, visiting Shiba Inu kennels and the Japan Kennel Club, as well as shows in Tokyo, to insure that they are breeding the true Japanese type Shiba. She has imported superior foundation stock to the United States and many of these fine dogs have finished their American as well as Canadian Championships. Innisfree has finished over 14 Champion Shibas so far and has multiple group placers in the U.S. and Canada. The goal is to carry on the outstanding reputation Innisfree Kennels earned with their Siberian Huskies....breeding healthy, happy dogs and providing owners with help and advice that's only a phone call away. Kathleen is also a world renowned and popular dog show judge and lecturer as well as recently becoming an author. She is listed in the 1996 edition of Who's Who in the World. Kathleen has dedicated her life to making Innisfree Kennels synonymous with quality and integrity by breeding happy, healthy pets and superior show dogs. Innisfree is proud of all their dogs and the responsible owners who love and care for them. Shouldn't you be owned by an Innisfree dog today?
